Are we making a difference???

Have you ever wondered if you are really making a difference in your classroom? I know that I have sat in my rocking chair with giggly kindergarteners and wondered “Is what I’m doing even making a difference”? The answer is YES, YES, and YES! For many students, school is their happy place! The smile on your face, the tone of your voice, the lessons you plan, the lesson you plan but decide to skip, the experiences you offer each day ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

THE PURPOSE OF THIS BLOG IS TO SHARE WAYS TO

BE THE DIFFERENCE

IN ALL THAT WE DO FOR OUR STUDENTS, OUR COLLEAGUES, AND OUR SELF!

We all need a reminder that we are making a difference! In today’s teaching world the rigor of academics is putting so much pressure on educators to teach the standards and to get high test scores. It saddens me when I hear of all the teachers that are leaving the profession because of the tremendous amount of pressure put on them. I believe that in the past decade we’ve focused so much on test results that we’ve pushed aside what truly makes the difference in a kids life. It’s not just us teachers that feel the pressure, but the students feel it too! The hurry to learn, hurry to be the best, hurry to get it done so they can just hurry to the next thing.

Our students need to learn to have a sense of self-worth, build their confidence, have creative space that fosters learning, and time to investigate and play! I plan to use this blog to share all the ways that we can be the difference in our classrooms and in our life as educators. How are you being their difference?
